I just got an Auxiliary input cable installed into my glovebox (2006 530xi) yesterday at my dealer. They claim they tested it and it work;however, whenever I plug my iPod in all I get is static. Searched the forum and couldn't find any workable options (Headlight fault,...). Is there a fuse or something that possibly blew? I really don't want to take it to my dealer since it is 45 minutes away and totally out of my way (aka pain in the to go to) and I have been there twice in the past 3 weeks..

Do you have another source to test? Try something that has a real "line out." Old, old, portable CD players still had a stereo line out. If they did indeed hook it up correctly there should not be any static or noise. I completed my AUX install my self so I can easily say that there really isn't any way to screw it up unless they used the wrong pin locations.

Unfortunately, I don't have an old CD player (My house is high-tech), but I tried another iPod and a PSP

Same problem? Maybe the male to male 2.5mm cable you are using is bad - do you have another one to try?

Got me then. I dunno. The only thing else I can think of is a loose wiring harness behind the M-ASK.

I think the price was posted in another thread, approximately $ 350. Search for the thread about the back up camera unit that has external video input.

The aux is a $75 part and a 30 min install. That price must be for something else.

The aux and the dension sound the same. The dension will show the song/artist/track information on the display.
