I just ordered the 2008 528i, titanium Silver, Steptronic, Prem. pack, Sport pack. Nav, Comfort Access, PDC, Xenon lights, Ipod and USB adapt. I picked natural brown interior w/ black 2 tone. My question is what would look better light or dark poplar wood trim? Thanks for you comments.

I would go with the darker one, the lighter is better with beige IMO.

For my 2p worth:

I would both agree and disagree.

Go for the Dark Poplar, but I prefer the Dark Poplar with Beige!!!

Hormazd,

Thanks partner my dilemma is over, I'm definitely going with the light poplar. Your research has been very helpful.

I too would prefer the light poplar. Good choice.

Think you'll find that in real life they both look lighter than on the configurator. I had the same dilemma and thought from the pictures I would go for light poplar. However, when I saw this in an E60 at my BMW dealership it looked way too light and wishy washy IMO so went for the dark poplar in the end with beige and haven't regretted it.

Suggest you see it live before ordering although I remember finding it hard to find a light one to view as it seems less popular.

Remember that the wood grain in every car will be unique as it is real wood even though it is a micro thin sliver coated in some kind of plastic. So I guess some may be lighter or darker than others depending on the depth of the grain used which sadly we have no say in.

You are right, I looked at both poplars live today. The dark is on every 5 series but I found a couple of E90 convertibles one with light and one with dark poplar. I have changed my order but honestly, I think either with look fine. Lighter wood shows more grain and therefore looks richer. When you look at old Jags and RRs from the 60's you only see walnut which is a lighter wood.
