B&O is crap.... kinda like Bose, only on an even more ridiculous scale.

Anyone who knows an ounce about audio knows that B&O is just eye candy to impress your yuppie friends who don't know any better.

B&O is nice! The sound is good, unless you are a total sound freak. The design of the B&O systems is first class, and the way they work is outstanding. Logic 7 is very good too, IMO.

But B&O is very expensive, and there are for sure better systems for the half amout of money that would do a better job.. But who want's big amplifier, 2-3 differents remotes , when B&O have it build in, and one remote to everything.

Note: I'm from Denmark and that could be a reason why I like B&O so much

What I can't understand is why an 'aspirational' car maker like BMW can't match the level of audio available in Volvo's. My wife had a V50 estate with the 'professional' option hi-fi, which for an in car system was fantastic, and not ridiculously priced.

Pity the car was so crap. I suppose you can't have your cake and eat it?!

For a while, Volvo was installing speakers made by Dynaudio. Dynaudio probably makes the best car audio "speakers" on the market. I used Dynaudio's in my Lexus before I got the E60. They install under the dash, so the distance to the listeners on the driver/passenger sides are more equal. Plus, they disperse the sound in a wider pattern due to the horn design. And because they replace midrange and tweeter in a single unit, you have a single point source for most of the directional sounds within the system. Subwoofers are non-directional, so their placement is less important. When you have separate midrange and tweeters, sometimes their placement can lead to phase cancellation. With horns, this is less of a problem because the midrange and tweeter are in the same location effectively.
