Do any of you experience that the engine revs up, approximately 200-400 revs, when you depress your clutch?
I really haven't noticed this on any other cars, and I can't come to think of any reason for the engine doing this. Either I have just lacked the ability to notice it previously or on other cars, or there may be something wrong with our car. Please share your experiences![Big Grin](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/biggrin.gif)

I think I've noticed this on my Passat. There may be some type of auto adjustment that is anticipating a drain on the engine power and is adjusting it automatically, but it may be that it needs some tuning to put it more in sync with the clutch and load on the engine.

Can anyone else comment on whether it's normal or whether it indicates a problem?

Maybe they designed the E60 to do this for easier take-off? If not, maybe there's some excess drag in the transmission when the clutch is engaged and the car in neutral? I'd put my money on option 1 though.
