Single components for trunk lid. Fits: BMW M5 Sedan Manual | BMW of Bridgewater

okay found a diagram of the finisher, parts. I think its mainly held down by two screws. I will attempt to remove it.

Thanks for your input!
Yeah - there are two separate cables, one that goes up front and one to the fuse panel - this is why there was 12v at the front but everything was dead - if you can measure voltage at the front jump points it may be a step in the right direction, if everything else is dead right now...

Try rocking the car as hard as you can from side to side, while repeatedly pressing the trunk release button, if this is the case it's probably only a tad lose and may connect for it to open or for you to notice the gear shifter light or put the light switch on the AE setting so you have a chance of spotting the dash lights.

Crazy idea: get someone with a huge sub or loud exhaust to park next to you, open his trunk and play bass test off youtube and hope the vibrations are strong enough!

Looks like the trunk finisher will come off easily though

Held by the screws that mount the license plate bracket. And a BMW dealer told you the only way to get in would be to pry it off? Don't take your car there...

Thats why my trunk finisher is held by the screws only and no glue/tape. If its only battery charge boost it can be done from the front. If the battery needs replacement, then you'll need trunk access even tho batteries dont fail that often. Btw Trunk looks sexy without the keyhole

There's a manual trunk release cable under the rear seat bench. Remove the bottom bench, pull the wire and voila, the trunk opens.
