I've also owned a V-8 powered car/truck for almost 20 years, so to me I'm no stranger to the V-8 feel.

It will be different with the F10 - for my next car I would only consider the 550 along with some other brands.
Yes it is no accident that BMW kept the power of the F10 535 the same (even though it porked up on the weight) while giving a big boost of 40 horsepower and 90 foot pounds of torque to the F10 550. BMW had to have wanted more performance separation between the cars given their considerable price difference. I can't wait to see 500 plus bhp tuned versions of the F10 550 coming out. They certainly will.

having the xdrive would be nice, but the v8 is great too, but the fuel pump problems would keep me away from the 535.

I don't know the percentage of 535's with the hpfp issue, mine doesnt have it, but there are issues with the v8 motor too. Now that both the 6 and v8 are turbo'd and both scaleable, I would get the v8.

I have about 4k miles on a 550i sport SMG. Before that the only V8 I'd ever owned was a GMC pickup truck. I don't know much about that 535i other than that I was able to get my V-8 for LESS than all the other 535i's in the area at the time. A LOT less. That said, I wouldn't kick a 535i out of the garage just based on that - it was economics for me. Heck, the 525i I drove at the dealer (same year, less equipment, similar miles) was priced about $4k more than the 550i I bought. But I digress. Would I swap my 550i for a 535i.... No, I don't think I would at this point. I LOVE BMW I-6 motors but I'm having an absolute BALL with the 550i and I'd be hard pressed to give it up at this point.

Not saying I couldn't be convinced.....if someone just HAD to have my 550i Sport SMG....

I did have a 545 before the 535 and now I'm back to a V8. The 535 was by choice and was the right choice for me at the time. Now that the F10 550 is turbo'd too, I would have gotten that now.

Taking my car to the dealer on the 6th to replace the HPFP for the first time, so you can add my name to the list.
