Oh ya! the new Carrera 4S is amazing! I took a good test drive of it a few weeks ago and that thing is just AMAZING!!! The car is very nicely built...
The new flappy paddle gearbox was cool too it shifts great but everything is reversed from BMW... So in that sense I think I would still want it in a manual... I wish the E60 SMG shifted as well as PDK but flapping in the right direction. I wonder how the M-DCT system compares... I never driven that but I do like how smooth PDK engages the clutch and shifts.
YA YA get the new C4S

Well, I just sold my early 2006 production E60 (December 2005) with Sport/Premium/Alpine white nothing else (40.6K miles, rear tires have moderate wear, and a little front bumper rash) for $22,000 US.
Tomorrow, I'm picking up a new late production 2008 535i with Sport/Premium, Nav, Sport Auto tranny (paddle shifters on wheel), Comfort, iPod+USB, Sirius, heated front seat and power rear window shades for $58,560.
I thought that was pretty good price, but not totally great one.

The 4S sounds bad ass.. I wonder why the paddles are reversed, tho? How are other similar vehicles? Does the RS6 reverse paddle direction? What about the Aston Martins?

Did you try it in the auto mode as well? How did it shift compared to smg??
Amazingly smooth no matter which setting you were in. Manual or Full Auto. Its a dual clutch system just like Audi's DSG (now S-Tronic) SMG auto was slow so I didnt really ever drive it in auto mode, in manual it was fine.
