Thats why I indicated optional earlier in this string. Some would like it, others would not. I think they would look great on the sports package cars with tit silver or black. Something more mild like Alpine (which I do love) or Oliven, no way. To each is own though. I mean, I'm even one of the rare ones on this board that dislikes the big after market wheels. But I do like the red calipers.

Well now that I've seen what they look like, they do add something. In the same way as adding bright red lipstick to the Mona Lisa would - gaudy, tasteless and totally pointless. Thank goodness they are not compulsory! IMHO

Seems that red calipers would make a very popular choice. I'm sure there must be a reason for that, but I really don't see the point. Why red calipers?

Red calipers add a nice unobtrusive accent to a car's wheels/tires. They look sporty/racy. They look great in general and on the wheel pictured above. But, they are not for us stealthsters or those of us who see, for example, the 545i as a fast, but refined, crusier. My Z06 has red calipers; they really seem to suit that car. On, say, a 545i, I think red calipers become more and more appropriate as the car is modified more and more to the racy side.

As mentioned, these are some of the stuff that BMW owner can choose as a factory option. Red calipers are nice but it does not suit every colour as mentioned above black goes nice with red. Maybe someone out there like Mona Lisa with red lipstick, who knows? We are only having a discussion here so you shouldn't really use words like tasteless and pointless and starts a war on the forum thank you very much!!!!

Sure - you have every right to like red calipers, green windshield wipers, two-tone go faster stripes. No problem. I have every right to disagree and think they are tasteless and pointless, don't I? Why should a difference in opinion start a "war on the forum"?

Cardinal "rules" for participatiing in fora, whether or not stated explicitly in user agreements, are be polite and don't flame. One forum indicates that "most often a 'flame' is a statement that is taunting and thus arbitrarily inflammatory."

Just talking in pure design terms I would get rid of the shut line on the boot lid (trunk) which IMHO makes the boot look like an add on. Also I would offer more interesting leather colour schemes such as two tone grey and black. Lastly I would have had a digital temp. readout on the a/c similar to the last E39 and every other car in the E60 class.

Forgot to say - I know the pic is a bit far away but hiding the shutline really enhances the rear light clusters! Just my HO.

Where would you put (hide) the boot shutline

Same as E39 so you only see it from rear angle. I can see why they did it - for ease of golf clubs etc. It just looks odd to me.

What do you think of the erased line version in my pic?
I like it, but I also like the trunk line where it is (didn't like it on the first 7s). I don't know if I would like a "standard" trunk line better.
