See the link. The company makes a Touch screen which replaces the current screen. Has anyone done it?

Their grasp of English is very reassuring...
"We were developed so that can use AV product that is circulated mostly for customer's desire repletion. Also, minimize that image noise and voice noise."
I expect that the touch screen would only work with non-iDrive sources, I can't see how they would integrate touch screen in to the interface that clearly hasn't been designed for it. It's probably just a pass-through for iDrive with no touch screen - and the touch screen is used when you flick to an external AV source (VGA with US.

I'd also question how well the display functions in different lighting conditions and ambient temperatures. The displays that BMW installs are tested thoroughly and work extremely well across the range of harsh conditions that an automotive environment throws at it...

I think the only time the Touch Screen will actually work is only with the Car PC application, otherwise it's simply a passthrough as Russ said.

I see this as a step backwards, not forwards...

My Ride: Current - MY2008 530i comfort access, active steering, HUD, prof nav/TV, bluetootth etc .....
Old - 2006 530i comfort access, active steering, HUD, NAV/TV, Bluetooth
I notice in the examples given on that link that there was an iDrive mode, windows mode and internet mode.
Is this a feature of the screen? Probably not ...
Is this a feature of the iDrive software we have installed?
If so, how do we activate?
Or is this just hyperbole?

Anything other than the iDrive is illustrating the use of an external device - in this case a simple PC running Windows XP or similar.
