2007 530i e60
when I started the car yesterday, the screen got stuck on the BMW logo screen. Radio is not working. But I can hear the back up assist beeps. I did plug in my OBD scanner and a few codes popped up. Before I wrote them down, I was an idiot and erased them. A few codes did come back.
E18F- central registry does not match with debit configuration
A46D- malfunction CID
because of the reset of head unit
So far, I’ve checked fuses and disconnected the battery for two hours. I tried that soft reset with pressing the power button and both eject buttons After a few seconds, the screen will go black and then go back to the BMW screen.
What is my next step? Is it replacing/reprogramming the head unit? If I’m able to find one at the junkyard, do I need to look at the back of my head unit first to see if certain numbers match up
On the back of the CCC is a small computer muffin type fan. If you are lucky it died and maybe it is due to overheating.
I also had strange issues with a burned Navigation DVD that went away when I took it out or had a genuine Nav DVD.
If you need a new CCC, look for some threads. It isn't just plug and play.

if I happen to find one at the junkyard that comes from the same make model features, and plug it into mine will it still require programming? If all the features are the same, can’t I just enter the vin number somehow
I'm not sure what you will need to do, but you will need to do something programming-wise for sure. There are threads on this board and bimmerfest that should have all the info.
CCC replacement should generally be plug n play. CIC has much more programming work if you want its built-in navigation to work. The only big issue I can think of that wouldn’t work on a CCC swap is if your car does not have Logic7 audio and the car you pull from does, or vice versa. The Logic7 models communicate with the amplifier over the MOST optical bus and the standard audio has speaker outputs on the CCC unit. I retrofitted CIC and while my car had Individual Audio (newer version of Logic7) the car my unit came from did not so I had no audio until I set the CIC back to defaults for my car.

so I pulled a used one off of a 06 530i ( one year older than my car) everything seems to work minus the audio, backup assist, and tpms. I think that all can coded/programmed in
Had a buddy code it for me. But I did notice that the radio reception isn’t as good as before. Could it be a coding issue or is it most like a wire in the back of the ccc came loose? Any clue which wire it would if that was the case?
