Hi,
So after searching and browsing, I couldn't find a topic about this really.
But my question is about this:

When I first turn on my 2004 530, my iDrive pops up and shows a warning message on the display. Is there anyway to remove this from ever coming back up? Or is it forever going to be there on every start up?
It gets annoying hitting OK with my knob every time I get in my car just to get to the CD/FM display menu.

The warning message reads something like: "Warning! Use this system only when traffic conditions permit. Safe vehicle operation is the driver's responsibility. For further dtails, see owner's manual."

Thanks in advance for responding.

AFAIK, that has to be there, no way to take it off. It's BMW's way of covering their a_s should anyone try to blame an accident on being distracted by the iDrive....that message does go away by itself after a few seconds. I find this no more annoying then having to turn off the fan/vents every time I start the car...you'll get used to it...

here's a nice little discussion on it tho...

I agree the USA iDrive Warning was designed by lawyers not drivers!

But, if you just drive off, the warning will disappear on its own in about 15 seconds - returning to the last screen on iDrive. (Well at least on my '07 it does)

Luigi is partly correct. I can't recall which software version started this but on most cars, that warning screen goes away after 15 seconds or so. If your's is not going away automatically, you have a pretty old version of the software. Find some reason to get a software update, MP3 capability, transmission slam etc. Do a search on getting a free software update.

To avoid the fan turning off, you can get back in your car every 10 minutes to avoid the fan turning off once you turned it off the first time you parked and exited the car.

Can you elaborate on having to turn off the fan/vents every time you start the car ? Is that to stop the ventilation system from fogging the windows up with stale air ? I started a thread on this today and we came to the conclusion that switching off the ventilation (via the OFF button) for startup might be the solution. It'd be nice to get some confirmation that this is the solution y'all have come to on this.

So my dealer had to reprogram the computer on my car today and now my idrive screen warning goes away on its own in 10 seconds or so. Love it.
