08 550 with dip stick. Dip stick says 3/4 qt low. Idrive says too full.
do you think that could cause any problems with the ecu?


i'll change the sensor sooner or later, just didn't want to mess with it right now.

 

you checking the dip stick with engine off?

 

yep engine off. fresh oil change and I was checking the stick to top it off. I put about 6.5 qts in
but got the different readings.

 

I'd trust my eyes and brain more than a computer.

 

the 550i takes 8.5 qts so I'd go with that, it it says that 8-8.5 is too much then there might be an issue with the level sensor.
