The iDrive is now called CID!

are people so stupid that they need a extra button with the name on it for every single function of the car? sound like a MB thing
I-drive is so intuitive.

he, he, he. i dont think i'll ever drive an MB of my own.
I guess i am a little angry with my car but it took me 2 years and 3 months to figure out an A/C "problem". It also took me 3 or 4 post on this site in the last 2 years and 2 service requests at my dealer...
I solved it by accident...

Among the journalists in different car magazines I have read the I-drive haven't been a success and now they maybe trying to get rid of this negative stamp...
Note: I love the I-drive. It's simple!

But have you ever testdriven an E65 (7-series)?
If you sit in it without any instructions (and BMW experince)
you have a hard time to start, shift and program the iDrive!

Have you guys seen the new system in the MB S550? Car and Driver reports they like it best out of all the modern interactive systems. The one neat thing is that the "knob" is shaped more like an egg or computer mouse, and it flips open to reveal a numeric keypad. That would be handy when you have to input characters during a phone call - I think the current way of doing it in iDrive is a bit clumsy.

A British moto journalist came up with the comment "i-Drive equals i-Crash" Probably not favourable press then
I like i-Drive though, or sorry, should that be I like the CID

Seems that BMW wants to get ride of the iDrive terminology.
Maybe the birth problems gave it a bad reputation...
Anyway, in all new BMW literature I read the name is now CID,
Central Information Display.

We still have idrive, and we ALLWAYS had a CID. CID is just the display!!!

My Ride: 2005 525i Titanium Silver Metalic and 2003 325xi Jet Black with the Premium Package in both cars.
Whatever they want to call it, either the idrive and CID, makes no difference to me. I like it either way.

My Ride: 2006 530xi. Deep green with beige interior. 6 speed manual. Premium package.
i-drive, x-drive, ccc, m-ask, cid, etc - too many abbreviations
When I was looking at cadillacs before the bmw had a saleslady who wanted to sell me a cadillac with
a v-chip
I did not have the heart to tell here TV's have a v-chip - and the v in the cadillac name stands for a lot more than a chip
