iDrive NAV: Searching "Information" POI's by name??!

My recollection of my Lexus NAV systems is that the destinations you can enter while the car is in motion are six (I believe) pre-programmed locations. I think they called them "Favorites".
Having used both, I much prefer the I-Drive system to the touch screen. Less taking your eyes off the road and the smudging on the touch screens was always a problem. I also had to have them replaced twice.
On the other hand, the Lexus and Acura NAV systems are very easy to use and much more user friendly.

ok.. i got all that. The bottom line is. If you looking for something like a dealership other then BMW, idrive will not find it, that is weak. There is so many destinations that come to my mind that I would not know where to look for them in idrive, in what categories under info??!! can someone tell me if the new upgrade for 2007-2008 idrives would work on my 2004, I read somewhere on this forum today that it has the search by name general category like all the other ones outhere do in other Japanese cars..

Guys, the POI system pre PROGMAN 25 did not do anything - with 25, you can now search by distance and name - without this capability, I don't see how it really worked before?

Again, it was something -- just not as flexible as it is now. Even now though, it doesn't really match up to what other cars offer...

Thank you. I guess I do have the latest upgrade in idrive software, but still you have to search within a category by name to find the exact match you looking for. But someone please tell me witch category if any would find another dealership like Lexus for example on idrive??!! I couldnt find it.. Looks like BMW wants you to not find a dealer other then bmw on idrive??!!
