Hi members!

My iDrive has a serious problem: after a while (1 hour now in August, more on winter) the music begins to skip. First I though the problem was a burned CD, so I switched to a bought CD and the same. Then FM and it's the same.

What can cause my idrive become crazy after a while?
The CCC is too hot maybe? (a lazy fan?)

Nothing changes if I reset with Ctrl+Alt+Canc, the iDrive reboot but it continues to skip. Just music, the rest continues to work great.
I'm not sure, but if I use navigation it happens earlier.

On a normal device, you could turn it off and let it relax, but this damn iDrive cannot be turned off.

Does this happen to anyone else?

I'm sure if I will tell the dealer, the man would say 'replace CCC, EUR2000" or something similar.

I will have to test it during winter and freezy weather, so I will be able to see if the temperature is the problem.

2005 545i and Progman V31.

Thanks!

Could be the TCU. Someone has a similar problem recently with audio and iDrive. Try unplugging the TCU and see if the audio still skips, you might encounter other errors from iDrive but at least you can isolate the problem. GL

What is the TCU, the bluetooth?
Secondly, how can I unplug it?

Yes..

It's in the boot/trunk, on the left hand side above the wheel arch.....silver box, which will have the Bluetooth "B" symbol on it somewhere.

Ok, tnx!

And if the problem disappears...? Will I have to stay without BT?

No, it will help you trace the problem though. A TCU is cheaper than a CCC unit.

If the TCU is the problem, then let me know. I have a spare one for you (euro spec of course).

Great. I have this problem but haven't done anything about it. Was hoping it was just the CD player. Will have to get them to check it when I take the car in for the airbag sensor recall.

Bwah! I need that TCU! Hook an AG brotha up!

And theXman is right, 99.9% it's the TCU. I replaced 2 m-ask units, and two CCC's troubleshooting this issue. Stupid thing drove me nuts. But I did go from business nav to pro nav so not a complete loss.
