Now its the IDRIVE. I have a 545i and yesterday my IDRIVE screen began changing from the BMW to a black screen. Sometimes it works as normal. What should I check first. Thanks in advance.

My money is on CCC headunit. These came from factory with questionable circuit board quality that tend to develop microcracks as they age. Does it reboot while driving?

Take out the navigation DVD and see how it behaves over the course of a couple days. I've had issues where a DVD I burned got "old" and would cause random reboots or seriously slow down the iDrive. Removing the DVD and/or inserting the factory navigation DVD fixed it.
