Default iDrive knob not working after CCC replacement

My old CCC was failing, so I had to replace it with a used one. I programmed all of the following modules in order:

- CGATE
- CHOST
- CAUD
- CTUNE
- CAPPL

With SG_CODIEREN and everything is successful, however, when I go to use my iDrive controller, it does not work. Steering wheel controls work, CCC faceplate buttons work (ex. Radio presets), but the iDrive controller does not. Is there a step I missed?

There is a coding option in CAPPL called ZBE. You can play with different values (high, low...). If that doesn't fix it you will need to reflash controller FW to make it work. I have instructions saved somewhere in case you cannot get it resolved.

I ended up figuring it out on my own after a few days once something caught my eyes. I noticed that my iDrive knob was an LCI knob, and the date on the sticker on my replacement CCC unit was dated 2007 (pre-lci). I put two and two together and figured that there was a good chance the CCC just wasn't programmed/updated to understand the signals from the LCI iDrive controller, so likely I needed to update one or more modules (likely body gateway module)

The Solution: I updated the CGATE module with WinKFP to the latest version, and once I did that, my knob worked perfectly!

that's awesome. How long did it take to update CGATE? Did you use dcan cable?

Yes. It was a K+DCan cable from Ebay. Make sure to use one with good reviews. It took maybe 20-30 minutes if I recall (for the actual flashing with winkfp)

I believe I have encountered the same issue with my E60. I'd appreciate if you could walk me through how to attempt your solution.

I know this is older. I had the same problem and figured it out recently. Do you still need the process?
