iDrive Display Nor Working
Can anyone help ... I have a E60 2007 535D with Pro Navigation, the display has stopped illuminating, it shows the BMW boot-up screen for a couple of seconds which goes on and off intermittently also NO radio or CD, I have tried to eject the Navi CD but this does not respond.
Is this likely to be a dealer issue?

Hi Mike,
As you read, I gotta say I feel a little less alone ... I could not find anything else on the web about it.
Since two weeks, I have exactly the same problem with my F***G 525xi 2007 with 80000 Miles. I do not know if that can be related but I had to change my transmission 2 month ago and the firmware update was not done at that time. Also, the technician told me that the battery showed slight peaks in voltage ... Oh yes, shortly after this sad event, I listened to a CD a little damaged and the music skipped. (Because one day, one of my CD has been eaten by the CD player and he never came back to life!)
Now it seems to be the Headup unit that is the problem. I took it out of the dash and it turns on and off intermittently if I turns upside down and even when I pinch the cables on the back. I do not know if it is a connector or inside on the electronic board... A new unit Headup Will Cost Me Another 1500 to $ 2000! The technician told me that if his supplier has 5 in stock is that it often breaks. Someone Will be kind enough to help us?
a guy tired of spending in the garage...

Hey Mike,
I finally found something VERY interesting:

... seems to be a problem with the Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS).
Cheers

I had the same problem that started about a week ago. Idrive screen would just restart out of nowhere for the first few days. Then the screen would just not turn on during start up most times and when it did start up, it would just turn off within 5-10 mins afterwards. I took it to the dealership and this is what the invoice said.
"Verified complaint found most bus down. Checked power to CCC head unit at the fuse block and at the connector. Power OK at this time. CCC module internal failur. Recommend replace the CCC and programing after replacement."
I also had the "High battery drain" malfunction. I bring this up because the SA said these 2 concerns were related. This is what the invoice said for that concern.
"Verified complaint, performed energy diag and found a close circuit current high when vehicle is in sleep mode. While performing visual inspection found aftermarket battery. Recommend battery replacement for further diag."
What the SA told me was that the previous owner of the car replaced the OEM battery with an aftermarket battery and did not have it registered. So what happened was the electronics in the car (mainly the CCC module) would basically be running 24/7. That caused the CCC module to short circuit therefore causing the IDrive screen to stop working. I'm just going by what the SA told me. (its gonna cost about $1600 to replace the CCC module at the dealership and about $450 to replace battery. alot cheaper probably at a indy shop). Hope this helps.
