I have an 04 545i with about 80K miles and my I-Drive just died. Nothing shows in the screen, my stereo can't turn on, obviously the navigation can't be seen, etc.
Has anyone experienced this? Wow this seems crazy for a 4-yr old vehicle. Any suggested solutions are appreciated. I checked all fuses and all were ok. There are no aftermarket add-ons either. I sure hope the BMW CPO will cover it if no one has a suggested solution. Thanks. .....Tim :help: |
It's not unusual for a vehicle with 5000 km so for a much older car, it's definitely not unusual.
I wonder if it's covered. The BMW CPO Web page specifically excludes: Radio/cassette player, telephone, navigation system, CD changer, or any components of those systems; non-original equipment parts, components or accessories. |
I believe it should be covered under CPO extended warranty. My I-Drive shorted out and wouldn't come on for a couple of days. They reinstalled or recoding the software and it works fine now. But it might depend on the problem. Good luck.

How do you conduct a "reboot"? Thanks, Tim

Have you tried rebooting?

I made an appointment for next Monday. I received a call from the dealer today after I emailed him the link with the discussion regarding iDrive going blank (see above post). We had a good chat.
He said if the CCC was defective that my CPO car will be covered. Basically they will use a computer to see if the computer is bad based on any fault codes recorded. Go figure, where the human intervention? I will let you know the outcome next week.

Thanks I'll give it a shot the next time it goes down. Does that reboot the CCC? Actually the system is back on today. The problem is sporatic, died twice but has come back to life. Strange.
