Thumbs up

Hi,

My iDrive takes a good 20 seconds to "boot up" when I start the car which is very annoying...the dealer realoded the software which did little to alleviate the problem, maybe a slight improvement. My car is fairly high spec in terms of iDrive useage i.e. Bluetooth,Professional Satnav and the upgraded Climate Control..all of which give iDrive more things to do. Anyway, I had a 530i loan whilst my car was in which had a very basic spec (only had Bluetooth) and the iDrive started absolutely instantly and the response from the controller was also much quicker (i.e. instant) where mine definitely has a bit of time lag. Do other people experience similar problems, would particularly like to hear from you if you have a similar spec car.

My car is an Oct 04 build and had the latest software loaded in Jan.

Thanks

I'm betting the 530 loaner did not have NAV?

Seems that is the difference in bootup time and also other quirky bugs. I don't have NAV and iDrive has always booted instantly.

I think it is general consensus that everyone with NAV has slow start up times, it may need software or hardware reworking in the future.

Yes. Very slow start up compared to my 04 530 w/o nav. Voice command response time much slower also (I had the CPT9000 in the 530).

Exactly the same case here. I understand that latest software updates shud improve the situation.

My Windows XP desktop computer boots up faster than the iDrive and that's scary

My dad have next options; phone pro, nav pro, advanced climate control, 6disc changer, pdc and voice control. I-drive takes sometimes 40-55 sec. Longest was a min. Its not handy if you are comming out a small parking place cause you can't see the pdc monitor. And also you have not radio directly.

Hope sofware 16 fix this

I just had a new verion of software loaded and it does seem to help. I also have NAV PRO and it is somewhat fast to start iDrive now.
