Yep! Btw does the car allow you to pass those restricted revs? Never tried it and for sure never will.

[/quote]There are small markings in the tachometer that appear/disappear before the redline. This is an implicit temperature guage...and if you observe it early in the morning on a very cold day, you will see more of them between 5000 and 6500 rpm. As the engine warms up, these markings slowly disappear starting from 5000 until you see no more of those upto the redline.
I wanted to post a picture illustrating the above...but dont know how

4. Wife fiddles with the "knob" . . . OK to change the radio stations. In a 30 minutes ride, she changes the station on an average of 50+ times. Yes, I made a mental count. Lord knows, if I activate Sirius, the knob will break in a year.
5. Change volume, mute, and station on Steering wheel.
There's my routine. No Nav. I used that money for a new laptop and a GPS module. Works Great.

[/quote]I see. That is what he meant. Yes, I have observed those too. And, for an earlier question, I am not sure if you can exceed these "tentative" redline numbers.

[/quote]Well, the logic behind the no nav. is that for the past 15 years, I seldom used a map (even when I had a travelling job) in the car. For the same price, I can watch movies, GPS, etc (and everything else you can do with a computer). My decision was based on utility. You can say I'm good with directions. I can look at a map, write down the address, and I'm there. Now, if I paid $1200-$1800 for a handheld nav., then yes, your logic would hold truth. User-friendly . . . relative.
With regards to sound, I have premium sound (h/k) and not the standard despite 80% of my listening is talk radio (news). I would never put in an aftermarket sound unless it's Mark Levinson. I'm the type of audiophile that likes the direct sounds instead of the "Bose" type sound, so HK is good. I have Yamaha receiver and polk audio at home.

I forgot a useful technique earlier. It turns out that the joystick often can be used as/thought of, in effect, as a back button--because among other things moving and holding the joystick lets you toggle among the main functions of the iDrive. One of my desires is a dedicated back button, or the equivalent, for the iDrive.

Is the accept warning goes away on the 06 after few seconds?
Just got my car and after 4-5 secs, the accept warning goes away automatically.
I prefer that way much better.
