Hi Iceman,

I see that your car received an additional wooden trim for the lower part of the central console. That's EXACTLY what I was desperately looking for since months;I feel that the standard console is rather ugly in this area and will greatly benefit from an embellishment. Can you give details about the product you installed? Who is the manufacturer? How can I buy it?
Many thanks for your reply.

You can get it through BMW. As a matter of fact, 2005 model year cars are coming with it standard here in the US...

Yep, Rudy is right.
It's original BMW, standar on 2005's. I had my dealer order and retrofit it, and probably switch it again soon...

I'll bite. Why are you going to switch it again and what are you going to switch it to?

It's standard on the '05 545i--here's what it looks like in anthracite maple, with nav:

The storage shelf isn't there on cars with nav--I believe the nav unit is located behind that panel.

The new part which comes out March. The black plastic surroundings of the CD/NAV slots and climate control is painted with soft-paint, what makes it look better. Currently planning on switching all parts, but have to wait for pricing infos fom the dealer.

Attachment 5282
That part should be available now. My '05 545i (11/04 build) has all the parts shown in that pic in soft paint (the pic says 09/04 for soft paint).

My car has all the updates in that pic, except the ruthenium A/C vent levers. Even have the leather handbrake grip, even though pic says 03/05.
