So my car wouldn't start up the other day, I have a 2006 530XI. I got an error saying 'increased battery discharge'. I tried to jump it, but it still wouldn't start. It was towed to the dealership and they found out a plug was loose and water was in the battery area. They said the IBS (intelligent battery sensor) that is part of the negative battery cable was acting up. They dried up the area and it starts now, but my SA thinks the problem may still persist. Of course they want $300 + just for the part (- cable/IBS), but I can get it for $176 + shipping. I'm wondering if I can install it as well or if it needs to be programmed or something? Any clues?

No programming required and it takes about 10 mins to install. I have seen these on ebay for under $100. You can unplug the sensor with no issues/errors at all. I would unplug it till you find a good deal on one.
