I give up on this.
I'm totally pissed off at how this just suddenly got broken w/o any external influence, no car programming, no changing of network, no disconnecting the battery. Like, wtf : X

Something tells me the dealer is not going to be of much help...

Doesn't Google and BMW online require a subscription ? Maybe that's the issue?

I have the same problem with Google and BMW Assit in the UK, I spoke with BMW and apparently this is/was an issue with Google, however, it is now meant to be resolved..........

That said, mine is still not working. every time I go somewhere I press the BMW assist option and speak to a representative who programs the sat nav for me :-)

Interesting so this could be something "major" and not just a bug in my car.
Not sure if it makes me feel better or worse

Yeah I'm buggin the operator lady too just for the hell of it (seriously, I have to drive around a lot these days), I keep getting the same person most of the time, or at least they all sound the same, think she hates me by now.

Ok confused now. Google is a feature of the connected drive which was available on all models built in September 2007 onwards.

Beamlord, yours is an 06 model?? axuklpsyk has an 2009 model so this should and does have it.

When I asked BMW why do I not have it, they told me my build date was July 07 so missed it by 2 months, would need to pay around £250 for it, I kicked up a fussed but all I got was 3 years of BMW Assit for 3 years foc but thats the best they could.

So Beamlord how come you have it???

I'm not sure what you mean by Google. If you mean the actual Internet browser with Google homepage, this is only available in the very latest models (2010 onwards I believe?). So that one does not match any of the mentioned.

What we're talking about is the BMW Online which gives you access to the BMW portal with weather, news, and all the other stuff, and your Office, including E-mail. This feature is available since 2005, actually. In addition to the above, it also gives you the Google search for locations (only) which you can then upload directly to the nav., call them, or see reviews/images of the place.

Well, that post is about someone who did not have the BMW online option in his car. I believe it can be retrofit/programmed on those that did not have it initially, but I may be wrong.
In any case, it's all in the BMW Online package, and it's definitely available for all the cars with telematics unit, Nav prof and i-drive high - which is rougly end of 2005/beginning of 2006.
