My Ride: 2005 525i. 30% Huper Optik tint. Sirius.

Last night I went went into the garage to take the trash out and the left parking light (amber and angel eyes) was on as well as the left taillight! The lights were turned off, the car was locked and the alarm was on. I don't know how long it was like that because I got home about 4 hours before then. The car started fine and the lights went off after I turned the car off. WEIRD!!! The damn batteries on my digital camera were dead so I couldnt take any pics. I guess its a good excuse to get the newest software upgrade. Maybe it was just winking at me.

You parked it with the turn signal clicked to the left...that's all.

They're called standing lamps -- very few people know about them so don't sweat it!

If possible avoid software updates. Do it only if something is really wrong.

Agree!

Standing lights are very common not only at bmws but on almost every car out there 98/99 built! When u leave the turn signal (doesn't matter left or right) and turn the engine off that part (left or right) will remain on. It's a safety feature.

Not sure this is 100% effective, but I have turned it off by opening and closing the door twice (or was it three times) Anyway, try that and I'll test my theory again later today.

LOL just cancel it by turning the signal in the other way. U don't have to start the engine...

That method works only if you hop on your left foot and hum a few bars of "Do you know the way to San Jose..."
