My Ride: 2004 545I
Default i pulled some codes, and need some direction please.

So my my car goes into tranny fail safe mode. I thought it was because my alternator was failing which was conformed by auto zone in car test and oreillys in store test . I just put the new alternator in and also replaced the alternator bracket seal since it was the oil that killed it I believe and it really wasent a pita like most people say. Anyways, Alt didn't fix my issue, fail safe still comes on so I pulled codes which I should have done first . These are the codes, p1887, p0460, and p1771. Can anyone help me out and shed some light . I think I'm going to replace the smg pump soon because it sounds like it primes really weak. Also, when I checked my volts from my battery with new reman alternator it was reading between 13.80 & 13.76 volts at 2200 rpm with seat heaters on radio on steering wheel heater on headlights on heater on . Should it be more then that ? And if the alternator was bad would that cause my 545s smg to pop into neutral from fourth gear getting off the freeway or not shift into gear at all? Or is that more pump related ? Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks guys.

Can you post the year, miles and model. That would be a great help if your requesting help

P1887 indicates a hydraulic pump failure on the SMG:
Try unplugging the battery for an hour to see if it resets it.

P0460 fuel level circuit malfunction:
Try looking at the connections

P1771 CAN Torque Interface Plausibility:
I have no idea

You should try to hook this up to INPA to get actual BMW error message. When did you change your battery. Something is going on if all these unrelated codes came up after changing the alternator. New alternator might mean you need a new battery if it was never changed.

Hey sean thanks for the reply. ill see if i can find a way to hook it up to an inpa. So this is a 2004 545i with 116,000 miles. the battery was replaced like 5 months ago and registered. The reason i replaced my alternator was because my tranny keep going into fail safe mode after like 15 mins of driving. Also, my smg would pop into neutral and sometimes not go past 2 or third and then go into failsafe. when i was told i had a bad alternator i figured this would be the problem, so thats why i changed it but i guess not. when i turn the car off for like an houre or so and get back in the fail safe goes away and im able to shift through all gears easily then it starts acting up again within 15 mins or so..

If i cant finda place to hook it up to an INPA can anyone chime in on what P1771 could mean or expand on what "CAN Torque Interface Plausibility:'' can be... thanks oh and by the way is 13.7 and 13.8 with load @ 2000rpm decent power out put for the new alternator ? should it be more then that?
