My '02 M5 got caught in a hail storm with nickel sized hail. It was non-stop for 10 minutes in the middle of nowhere with no place for cover. The road was like driving on marbles. Finally I pulled over somewhere to wait the rest of it out and snapped the pic below. It was so slick I could barely pull back on the road. My temp sensor dropped from 70 f to 35f. The roof, hood, trunk, and tops of the doors all had damage. But I forgot to take a picture of that. Fortunately Dent Wizzard restored it perfectly.

I've driven in a large hail storm many times with my Toyota Sequoia SUV back in 2004 with no damage.
It was interesting how the temperature went from 93 to 35 instantly on I95 somewhere in Georgia.

You guys have some crazy weather back east. I've never seen hail anything near what you are describing in California.

Of course the ground shakes once in a while.

i washed both cars tonight... initial assessment is NO DAMAGE. The sun was down when i finished my car and it was completely dark when i finished the 70. If, in fact, there is no damage, i will be shocked. completely shocked.

Mine had subtle dimples throught the hood, roof and trunk. It takes good light. You could also try lightly sweeping across it with your fingers to try and feel any waviness or dpressions.

so far, i have found 3 tiny dents on the trunk and 1 tiny dent on the driver's side c-pillar of the 5. I also found 1 tiny dent on the hood of the x5.

i'll give it a few days to see if i can find any more and then decide if they need to be addressed. the dents are so small, i really had to scour the cars to find them.

either way, i now consider myself to be very lucky. i think i will play the powerball this weekend.

Congrats, and you can get those repaired at a minimal cost with paintless repair.

that is exactly how I ended up with my e60. My e39 was totally by hail to the turn of 9.5K worth of damage
