My Ride: 2006 550i sport package, manual, black on black w/ anthracite trim, pdc, logic 7, cold weather pkg.
I'm looking for the same thing in an exhaust as you are
and after quite a bit of research i've decided to go with
Dinan. Its everything your looking for and you get some
extra horsepower.
I'm still scraping up the funds but it will be mine very soon.

Ok guys, I have had the 545i a little while now and I am starting to get used to the small quirks and the big rewards. There is one thing that is missing for me at the moment, and that is the sound of the V8. With standard exhausts it's very quiet (which is no bad thing), but sometimes you would like to know you have a 4.4 v8 up front.
So I have listened to a few you-tube vids but they don't give you a real sense of the sound, or what they are like to live with day by day. So here are my requirements, let me know if you think anything comes close?
- I would like to hear the car at idle and on acceleration but want to cruise without any drone (very important)
- I am not interested in bhp gains
- Ideally the exhaust tips will look the same as OEM equipment
- I don't want to spend a fortune
Let me know what you think?
Regards,
JD

The Remus exhaust adds a nice low tone to the exhaust. Its only slightly louder than stock. See Remus Exhaust Shop for clips. You may want more loudness. No droning at all. The tips on the single side are a bit different than stock. I think my was mounted a bit rearward. They do stick out more. You can also get Remus quads and choose your tips but you need a different rear diffuser.

There is room with the hangers to adjust the muffler position.
At 699 retail and around 650 on special, it's tough to beat considering full 304 SS construction, 441 SS and chromed tips, TUV approved and backed by a lifetime warranty

Well, looks like I have a few to choose from
Remus
Dinan (not sure if I can get this in the UK)
Supersprint
I know Supersprint make quality exhausts, and there is a youtube clip of a 545i which sounds good.
Also do these exhausts fit straight on or do you need to cut the OEM intermediate pipe?
