Ok, it is different then. so did your coolant level increase over the week? and there is no oil leak? It is hard to be sure without looking, test the car. well it is odd to see the head gasket blown so early and just one overheating event. good luck.

Has the mechanic checked your fan? It may not be cooling properly after it was jammed. Could have hurt the fan motor. I think your problem can be traced back to the fan issue.

Coolant can look a little odd if it is past its "best before" date.
