E46 M3 is faster then 550 or 545 or 335 as well. I tell you this because I had M3 and it's beast and lighting fast, it does 0-60 for 4.5 sec. I think it's fast even for super cars.
But I surprised by 328 killed 545, I killed Infinity coupe G35 or G37 (I didn't see exactly, it was dark from dead stop) on my 550, very easy.

+1 - E46 M3 is a beast. sure the new M3 is beauitiful but come on. Sure it has more HP but is it really comparable to the E46 IMO not at all. And ANYONE who has owned one could agree. Just drive the two back to back and come back to this thread and report on it. You will find the new M3 sluggish and not as responsive and you will find that it does not feel "heavy" and stick to corners at 95mph easily. Agree or disagree?

As far as the 335i....too many variables here but I also owned a G35 for a few months (bought to sell) and i loved the feel and the car and it's very similar to the 335i coupe I test drove. Personally i'd pick the G35 though for the long run. I'd pick the E46 M3 over them all.

If you got 'smoked' by a 335 then I'd just think that you weren't ready or some other factor is the problem

You won't regret doing this. I bought one a few months ago and barely drive my 550 anymore. There is a tuning company in Northern California that just passed the 600+ HP mark with a single turbo (N54) and a few other bolt on upgrades. They feel 700 HP and beyond are right around the corner using stock internals. My 335 has a basic tune and an intake, combined with 100 octane and I do not miss the V8 at all...

Thats what I've been thinking, I talked to the head tech at my local dealer and he told me it s great car and they haven't had 1 come back in the last few months with engine problems (and they don't car about the jb4) . I test drove a CPO 08 coupe with a stick (nav, fully loaded) and I love it, way way faster than my 545 stick. I was thinking jb4 with the dual cone intake and a sick exhaust should get me by for a year or two.

He came back with 7 different names, but his style of writing always got him caught. It was really classic actually. The Admins traced his IP each time and sure enough, it was always him. He did a pretty good job with his last name and the Admins/Mods knew it was him (as did all the old timers), but eventually, he just couldn't hold back and starting ripping into other members and got banned. Who knows, maybe he's back again... LOL!

I guess i'm not crazy after all for lusting after the 335i. The 550i has a lot of power and super comfortable to drive, but the boost and the nimbleness of the 335i just makes you smile every time you drive, especially when she's not in the shop for the fuel pump.

I had a 328i loaner for a couple of days, and at first I was taken back by the lack of creature comforts and luxury that I have been spoiled with in my 550i, but driving after the car like i stole it, it was actually pretty fun, especially on the local streets where it beats the my 550i in the nimbleness department. I'm not surprised the OP got the business from the 328i, as it pretty peppy off the line if you under estimate it.
