Again, our cars aren't the best pick for all out performance or drag racing... even with the big V8.
That Neon is a fast car. Not to take anything away from it but I wouldn't be caught dead in one. It's a nice car for someone half my age though.![Smile](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/smile.gif)

You just have to measure you opponent. If it can be taken then go for it. If it can't you can either go for it and still have fun even if you loose or quit it. I matched my car even with an E39 M5 and lost every time. That doesn't make me think like that. It was just fun and crazy as hell to see a diesel putting up with an M.
In a way you must define what do you understand by good dragging car. For me it could be a heavily tweaked 997 turbo. For you it could be a crazy dragster that runs really rich and does 7-8 seconds on 1/4. In that case then i addmit our E60 are kids cars compared to that.
I urge u not to generalize the E60 and sum it up according to your bealives, conceptions, or driving style. It's just wrong. Of course you can have your opinion but to say that the E60 isn't the car to do that, or isn't the car to do the other based on what i stated above is just very wrong.

Again you start off with alot of preconceptions...really now! I think the E60 is a great car for everything, including dragging. Yeah point me some crazy subarus or corvettes. That will teach me.

I don't want to create a problem where there isn't one - I don't take issue with you or your opinions. I do however hope that you don't mean to define "preconceptions" by the literal definition.
pre?con?cep?tion ( P ) Pronunciation Key (prkn-spshn)
n.
An opinion or conception formed in advance of adequate knowledge or experience, especially a prejudice or bias.
To answer your question, I was thinking about seriously fast cars when I made my statements. From day one of my life as a driver, I was exposed to big block muscle cars and the resultant mischief associated with them. I've run cars on real drag strips with timing lights and burnout pits, etc... I've owned tweaked V8s and modified turbo AWD cars that were very capable machines. I've grown completely bored and desensitized of cars faster than the 550i. You know you've got a fast car when you never grow accustom to the speed. That's the mark of a fast car. I have seen and felt all of this over the years and I'd like to think that I have all the knowledge and experience I need to form opinions about drag racing.
In general, I like to win. If I do something, I try my best to field a competitive effort. That is the basis for my presumptions (the word whose meaning I hope you meant to convey). Why take a car like ours and go out and try to lose drag races? If drag racing had been my goal, my knowledge and competitive instinct would have led me down a very different path. The cost of an E60 would have been more than enough to produce a car that would tear up the quarter mile faster than most exotics. That's just not my goal. If it were though, the E60 would have been a poor choice.
Clearly, you enjoy just going out and racing. That's fine and I've had fun losing races I thought that I would probably lose (I had a lot of fun running with an E39 M5 too). Let's just forget about all this nonsense - I made a point to say that the E60 wasn't the "best" choice. I never said that someone shouldn't do this or shouldn't do that in it. It's not worth arguing over such minor differences. I am sorry to have upset you.
