Just got upgrade from 16.0 to 17.1. My impressions just after few kilometers :

- Good :
perspective nav
icons on left hand
response time of i-drive looks better
transmission overall better or smoother (no jerk, slam or crazy shifts with steptronic)

- Bad :
Address book and radio settings lost
Amber LEDs are no longer working (as many of you since 16.1)
TMC (trafic info in Europe) is no longer working (TMC sign on the bottom of the screen is not displayed anymore) - Did anyone experience this ?

BMW told me 19.1 before year end should fix everything

I don't understand why an update would disable LED's here in Europe? I just picked my car up last week and all of the things you mentioned on the Bad side work. Granted after a software update you will have to redo the Address book and radio settings! Same should be for the TMC radio station.(check all this in the idrive menu)but the LED's are still puzzling because you should have the same software as I do now.

Many members (including me now) have lost the LEDs with 16.1 or more.
About TMC I have checked everything. May be I should wait a bit more as I just drove 20 kilometers and TMC signal is not broadcasted everywhere (some "holes"). But it worked before the upgrade on the same roads.

I have pre 16.1 cip and to get tmc to turn back on sometimes i have to tune into Classic FM and listen for a minute or so. Then TMC appears and as long as i dont lose classic FM reception it stays.

Maybe you have to do the same but with your own TMC station?

on the light settings you have Auto. Off. Sidelights and On.

turn it to sidelights.

get out of the car
goto the front of the car
look at the side of the front (i.e. the light cluster) along the light before it meets the right wing at the top of th ecluster are 5 LED's. Right after the orange eyebrow. Thats what has gone in lots of cars.

I was used to do this before (5 secondes were enough). Now even after 5 minutes on the radio nothing happens.

Most are in Europe. AFAIK there is one in US and Australia. See the thread http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=12426

Seems more prevalent in Europe, though it seems to also happen sometimes in the US. Mine was updated to 17.01, and all my lights still work!

BMW has introduced regional and country specific bugs in the software. Why annoy everyone in the world the same? It is better to target bugs to specific regions or countries.
