Okay, on Saturday I took my 550 to my local detail shop for a good hand waxing. Brought it home, parked and covered it. Later that day the skys grew gray and the weather report was calling for rain for a couple of days. I am sorry but I could not expose my newly cleaned, primmed and buffed beauty to all that so I borrowed my Dad's 3 month old Cadillac Sedan DeVille DTS for a couple of days. He just bought a 2006 Solara convertible (please don't ask as I was horrified especially because he chose red.) so he really didn't mind parting with it. Anyway, the car was pleasant enough to drive. Decent power. Comfortable seats. Okay radio. Anyway, it was still raining this morning but I could not bare to wait any longer so I uncovered the BMW and took it out. WOW!! What a difference. The seats seemed so much harder and more supportive. Compared to Dad's 10,000 LB or however heavy that boat is, car my 550 seemed to fly. I don't have to talk about the difference in handling because if you need me to explain, chances are you wouln't be here reading this. The sound of the Logic 7 radio thundered in my ears. My advice to any of you who may be at the phase of your relationship with your E60, where you might be starting to take her for granted, is to go drive a Caddy for a few days. Or drive something else. When you go back to your cherished E60, you will fall in love all over again.

I wouldn't mind driving it a few days too, beats the Grand Am I am renting while in the States (but it does have alot of power though) outrun an E46 328i while there, that guy was so pissed that he got outrun by a Pontiac, he pass me even though we are on a two lane road. Was a fun ride till the limiter on the Pontiac kicks in at 160km like WTF I am not even warm up yet. but shity handling that's for sure.

I'm back in the US and currently driving a rented Mercury Grand Marquis which my company is paying for. Awfully comfortable but drives like a ship. Not much pickup from the 224hp engine.

Once a week I drive my wife's Lexus RX 330. It makes it sublime to get back in my 550. I had the same experience with my e46 M3. If I didn't drive something else occasionally I would get to the point where the M3 seemed normal.

The M3 was incredible; the 550i is a beast in disguise.
