OK, heres a new one to add to the list which I have not come across on this forum.
I have had an I-drive warning on my car for last few weeks stating
PASSENGER RESTRAINT MALFUNCTION, CHECK AIR BAG OR SEAT BELT TENSIONER
I have car booked for 60,000 KMS oil change next week so I will ask them to determine what is wrong. Unfortunately, BMW Canada has yanked the franchise from my dealer with no intention of giving it to a new franchisee that I know about, so dealer is closing in 1 month, when I called them for an appointment, they told me they only had 3 mechanics left and that I would have to go elsewhere as they cannot handle service on my car. All this after a seven year court battle between BMW and the dealer.
You would think that BMW Canada would have the courtesy of sending out a mailing to their clients on this issue.

sorry to hear about your dealer. well i think i mentioned it before that i had that come up on my idrive. it happened to me after last year's SLO meet. unless its really a malfunction, it's what i had. it ended up being a faulty sensor in the passenger seat and it was covered by the waranty. one of the mechanics at my dealer said it was a common problem with the 5 series, although i havent seen many having the problem.

i had this one come up on my previous 5 series... sold it with the malfunction the guy i sold it to was an old friend he just took it tothe dealer and they took care of it under warranty also.... i drove the car like that for almost 1 1/2 months cause i was always to busy to take the car in... but i have to say it did get annoying to always have that screen come up...

That's the warning I got when I changed my steering wheel and didn't plug the airbag back in correctly before I reconnected the battery.
