My Ride: 2011 F10 528i - Imperial Blue, Oyster/Black, Premium, Premium 2, Cold Weather, Xenons.
Pulled my origional post from Bimmerfest Forums.. didn't get much response there, thought I would give this board a try.
Being somewhat of a gearhead, I am curious as to what the various versions of software are out there, what the various differences are, problems fixed in different versions, etc.
My car is a January 04 production with Sat radio, BMW Assist, and no NAV.
In the I-Drive "Service mode", Versionskontrolle subgroup, I show:
Build Oct 10 2003 c: h:5.8.32
To enter "Service mode" with your I-Drive...
1- With the display screen up and at the five way menu selection, Depress the I-Drive for 6 seconds, and release.
2- Rotate 3 clicks right, 3 clicks left, 1 Right, 1 Left, 1 Right, Depress the I-Drive.
3- You should now be in "Service Mode" and see the
TV (for Ergo) Radio (for SVS) Versionskontrolle... menu
4- You can scroll through these menus and view quite a bit of information... Much of which is described in various 7 Series posts.
5- To exit "Service mode" hit the menu button.
Please submit your version information, car build date, or if you had a software upgrade at the dealer here, so maybe we can make some sense out them.
Remember, this procedure doesn't seem to work with NAV equiped I-Drives.
Thanks!

Dude,
I just went out and tried this out - the very fact that there is a service mode so nicely hidden was pretty cool... (in a not overly function - I don't speak German sort of way).
My build shows exactly as yours dose.
Build Oct 10 2003 c: h:5.8.32
It would be interesting to see if there are any others with newer versions.

I have the navigation system. For me to get to the menu screen, I have to Accept the Liability clause, then hold down the i Drive. If I can get it Turn off my screen (first option in the iDrive menu). Then I follow your steps:
I get 'Diagnosis Applications' with an OSD button popping up. I select it, and get 5 menus to get data from.
The first is C-Applikatiun

The only way that I've been able to tell about the CD the various modules were installed from was from a report that my dealer printed off when it was hooked up to a computer:
It's Graphical, and upper left has Load Software
Status Report
Model Series: E60
Vehicle ID; MY VIN
Vehicle data status: E060-03-12-528
Target data status: E060-04-506
I didn't have them upgrade anything since EVERYTHING on my car seems to be in tip-top shape. I took delivery on Apr 8, 2004.
It's my understanding that each module in the car has a different version, and that when people on the forum talk about version 11 or version 12, they are really talking about the CD that is sent to the dealers for a variety of cars (5 and 7?).
I hope this helps!

Ok, anyone with the same build as mine having any issues?
The only issue I have found so far is that sometimes the CD will start over playing at track 1 instead of where the CD left off. (this is usually in the morning, or after longer car sleep times) I don't really consider this a problem, as I usually am on Sat radio anyways...

You know, I had this exact same problem up untill I had the CD changer installed, then it vanished. I too have the Sat radio, not sure if that is a linking point. I do tend to listen to CDs a great deal, so noticed it right away.

My Ride: 2005 545i step, nav, sport, 166 wheels, premium sound, don't need nothin' else.
I have the same CD issue and was told it will be addressed in Version 12 (and previously was told 11.1 and 11.2, etc). Have you had any static the first time you switch to AM from FM. I get a lot of static/crackle until the AM station tunes in, but only the first time I switch. Also, the volume difference beetween AM and FM is substantial (AM being much louder).
Anyone else have this issue?
