i drive stopped working

Hi All Yesterday on first starting up I noticed the i drive screen failed to come on and also the radio/cd player would not work. U.K.Spec.520i.. I stopped a couple of miles down the road and switched off the ignition for a minute then restarted to see if it would reset.... but to no avail. I later left the car for a couple of hours and this time on starting all was working again 
. Anyone else had this or is it just a minor glitch with the 'computer'

took it into the dealer - they knew exactly what was wrong & they changed the idrive module

That happened to me once. I rebooted iDrive (press mute, CD eject & DVD eject simultaneously--like control/alt/delete on PC) and haven't had a problem since.

It just happen to me this morning today. I just ignor it and drove to work. Hope idrive fix itself when I drive back home today.

I have the same problem since a week and no ctrl/alt+del will work. The dealer will get it on Monday for a few days.

It's so weird. There are 3 posts talking about iDrive failed to boot up today. Including my e60, that's 4.

BMW reads our posts...heard that one before? did you say anything to make them mad???
I always believed they can control our cars via satellite

Since posting this topic I see another couple on the same subject. Although it seems to have righted itself in my case I think I will mention it to the dealer at the next visit. Will post the result. Mabye miss525i could be right..
