My dealer has kind of agreed to update my Sept 2005 (06MY) E60 535D M-Sport to the latest software version, but first wants to check that as mine is classified as a top of the range model(?) & has many optional extras, that i won't lose functionality by upgrading from the cars current software version (no idea what version i'm on) to a V20+.

My reason for requesting the latest software is to gain MP3 playback functionality from the single CD slot (learnt that from here), but could updating cause problems elsewhere?? Also, what other fixes/enhancements are linked with V20??

Cheers in advance.

I understand that i have this software version on my car (although the build on my car is 10 months older than yours). It solved a few problems, but now i am unable to use my sat nav (prof) to input postcodes satisfactorily. The postcodes are there, but it certainly won't navigate to them.
I've not had a satisfactory (or consistent) response on this one. The latest repsonse is that they 'forgot' to add this to this version of the software, and apparently the last software release does not have this.
Any one else help??

My car was updated to sw version 20.01 last week. I got rid of harsh downshift problem, which felt like something hit the cars rear before car stopped and the computer does not reboot by itself anymore.

MP3 playback was not enabled, I was told that CCC on my car does not support it.

New problem with the update is that when I slow down and start accelerating again just before the car comes to full stop, it feels like there is no gear applied, engine revs up and then the first gear bangs in. Does not feel good at all.

I tried to ask BMW UK by email about these problems but got no reply. Also I don't want to take the car to the dealer who did the update since they clearly know nothing about these cars and do not notice things like the bad gearshift when they test drive cars.

For all who are having problems with 20+ or who are comtemplating updating to such a version, please check out the current thread on performance woes form 20.01.00. It helps to know what problems are being encountered so our noise, if it comes to that, will be heard, etc.

Yes, it was free, because it was to fix problems with the car.
I got an answer on the MP3 issue from BMW UK. They said it can be enabled.
