Oh no it doesn't Well we are only just outside pantomime season and I couldn't resist

But seriously, I tried this on my way home by moving and holding the controller for a few seconds in various directions and it didn't seem to work

I'll give it another go tomorrow

Tested mine last night too, but in my case it did work. We both have 520d's built around the same time. It should work on yours unless you have had some kind of software/CIP change since taking delivery.

Have another go...

it must depend on which cip you have. tested mine yesterday and it worked great. i have a 2007 650. there was a difference. when you hold it for the 2 sec in nav it goes to the last nav screen used. hold on enterment goes to last enterment screen used. this happens even when the cars been off over nite. it goes back to the last used screen.\

thanks for the tip

A good alternative to Extended Voice Control.

Really useful info.... one of the biggest annoyances with the I-Drive is that to navigate through the menus can be quite distracting!!

OK, you're right - I did try it again and it worked today. Really neat feature saving menu clicks and making for safer driving, now I know what i'm doing. Thanks all for the tip and bearing with me..........
