When you have your software updated, do you lose all of your presets in I Drive? How long does the dealer keep the car for?

Yesterday I was driving along talking on the phone via bluetooth, when the system dropped my call and the I Drive screen went completely blank. About 20 seconds later, it rebooted up again and now everything seems to be normal. My car is 2 months old, 2300 miles. should I be worried? Has this happened to anybody else?

I had my CIP upgraded to 17.01 a few weeks ago when they installed my aux input. I lost some iDrive settings, but not all (can't remember which ones).
Yesterday, I picked up my kids and tried to play my iPod through the aux input, and it wouldn't work--no sound. I tried changing to CD--no sound. I noticed at the bottom left of the screen a cross through the speaker symbol (i.e. muted). I never muted anything, tried to figure out how to un-mute it--no luck, so I had to re-boot iDrive. Don't you love Windows...

I had something similar earlier this week -- turned out the CCC was bad and needed to be replaced.

Mine have the hardware replaced completly a months ago, the idrive screen went black and looping between the black screen and the BMW logo. Took about 7 days to get the part and now is working fine exept the Navigation is taking longer time to load.

the88saint,
Exactly the same problem that I had. It is caused by the CCC computer dying. The fix is to replace it with a new CCC. Typically, dealers do not stock CCC's and need to order them from Germany --- 4-5 business day turnaround for the part to arrive. I got lucky with mine as the dealer had one in stock - it was ordered for another car, but never used.
Once the new CCC is installed, they then have to re-load a bunch of software - this process takes a few hours to complete.
