I experience that the light intensity in the I-drive display differs. When I start the car the display light is weak, but after a while it becomes brighter. Is this normal?

It depends on the light outside, it is adaptive

I had the same issue with my display, and it didn't appear to chage with light.

Also my I drive has just died, so i'm not sure if it's connected?!?

LCD displays are a bit dimmer when cold.

It takes mine a few minutes to come to full brightness. It's not the lamp (backlight). It's the nature of the crystals in the display.

Cheers
