OK so I am a couple of months away from returning my 545i and noticed over the last few months a terrible creaking noise from doors. Dealer changes all seals on all 4 doors (crappy after a car that's 3 yrs old) and decided to reprogram my car with the "latest" software update. Worked Ok-- until today when everything just went black! Any other members with this same problem.

Yes I had the same problem a few times since they upgraded the software. Anything associated with idrive and the screen just blacked out. Even park distance control. Haven't had time to take it in yet.

Not a good sign. A module could have been fried during the upgrade.

Would recommend visit to the workshop.

I've experienced this intermittently since the upgrade to 27.*. The car was back for an upgrade from 27.01 to 27.02, and the problem was reduced quite a bit but didn't go away completely. The car is at the dealer AGAIN to have this fixed. They're replacing the CCC this time.

FYI - the dead iDrive seems to go away once the car goes to sleep (about 30 minutes powered off).

Sorry for replying to an old topic. I have my car for 6 months now and it happened three times so far. And indeed, after 30 minutes or so after powering off it works again. Perhaps they bought their software from Microsoft

Oh boy, let's hope they discussed this issue with Steve Jobs for the new upcoming model

If that's the case, whenever there's a problem try to close and then re-open the windows.

Only the M-ASK version. The CCC version uses Unix (VxWorks)! The new CIC version (by Becker) is another variant of Windows.
