I miss having all the dials and buttons for everything on the dash. I don't like changing the temp and the whole vent power control. It's too much control over something so simple.

i love the idrive! i dont think i can live with all the buttons on the dash. it's such a great feature that other companies such as audi and mercedes are starting to have it in their cars.

I like iDrive albeit it's quirky at times. However from what I heard is that Lexus, Infiniti, Acura, etc. are all way ahead and way better in that department. Never really used it but the even the navigation in my friend's accord is way easier to use and doesn't bug out ever.

I am ambivalent. I rarely use it, and when I do it is only to rid myself of the wife's choice in SAT stations. As a pilot, i am used to pushing buttons, throwing switches, and real old school, reading gauges. Neither Porsche has a system similar to idrive, and I seem to get along ok without it there as well. I still think the future is a touch screen.

Agreed! With high-resolution color graphics. The DME is already handling all the engine management signals. Let's have a look at them.

...my iDrive froze up today on my way back from Tracy...
Mine just blacked out this morning. I just restarted the car and it went back on. Wonder what happened.

touch? would you rather have a touch screen computer too, instead of a mouse? it sounds cool, but is not as practical as a mouse.

you want to be reaching up and having to look where you push every time?? no good.

But iDrive doesn't totally solve these issues either. The only one that could is full voice control of all major functions, and no one's really quite perfected that yet.

+1 i hate the touch screen in the civic, i gotta reach over every time i wanna do something, the idrive controller is waaaay more convenient, plus all the frickin fingerprints.. its just gross
