I totally agree.. they should be past this by now. I know they are making people very unhappy. And we shouldn't have to just settle..because it's BMW. I know other cars leak oil, but other cars are not BMW. This problem has existed in all of their V8s. and that's a shame.

LOL, so here's a quick update... The oil that was on the garage floor was very clear. I checked the oil level in my car and it was murky/black. So this can't be engine oil otherwise the oil on the floor would have been black.

I'm taking it in on Thursday to my local BMW shop...(Bimmersport), we'll see what the story really is. and if it is a $2000.00 job so be it.

You have a BMW, expect it to leak. If it was clear it is most likely hydraulic fluid CHF 11S. Expect that if you have AS (Active Steering) the hose will leak. Shouldn't leak that much though. Can easily be fixed but it may not be worth it. I had to add about 100oz of fluid 2 years ago. I'm not concerned about it.
Then again, if you had the transmission changed with a specific fluid it could be that as well. Pentosin is a clearish/yellow until it starts cycling and burning a bit. Sadly people think the color of the fluid means that it's protection properties have degraded which isn't true. But this is how people think so it is what it is.

Thanks Achtung, I am tasking her in tomorrow for inspection. I think it's the coolant as I had to top off about half the coolant container just three days ago.

Anyway I'll find out tomorrow and get it fixed. Will provide an update.in the evening

Check the oil filter housing gasket. This is very common to leak. It's usually a 1.5 hour job by a skilled tech. Book time is 3-4 hours though so careful. Might be $350 to $500 tops to fix if that's what it is.

So here is what was replaced....

1-Oil Pressure Switch
2-Vacuum pump O ring
3-lower and upper radiator hoses
4-Aux Fan switch
5-Aux water pump
6-Valve cover sealing ring (2 of them)
7-Crankcase Vent valve (2 of them)
8-crankcase hose set (cold climate)

Hopefully now it's ok, I have to check it today for any new leaks.
