Question

Ok, I tossed my key fob to my teenage son so he could do get the car after a movie and they didn't connect and the fob hit the ground and the little decal popped off. I thought it would be an easy fix with a dot of super glue. Hmmm, well, more than a dot came out but ok, it worked. The next day I went out and when I arrived at my destination and got out of the car... I couldn't push the little decal down to lock the car!!!! That crazy glue really works!! That little button isn't moving. Of course, I wasn't thinking about that when I came up with my crazy glue idea!

I already know that this was a really dumb thing to do, and I'm suitably embarraseed!! :'( Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm using my 2nd fob right now (of course, I have to load the radio stations, seat settings, etc).

Thanks,
LL

Since it is effectively broken anyhow and if you are up to trying this --
Get nail polish remover and q-tips -- try to work the nailpolish underneath the decal. It will help loosen the decal. If that does not work, sorry!

I'd try to remove the decal as someone else suggested and then see if I could get any of the problematic glue out. Sorry, for your problem. The darn key fobs probably are pretty costly. I'll remember not to toss ours around any more.

Here's what I suggest. Since you still have your metal key, the emergency part. Get a used key off ebay for like less than $50, probably $30 to $50 if you keep looking for it and just reprogram the used key to your car. I'm pretty sure the prcoess to reprogram the key fob is really easy. I have the instructions on how to reprogram the old style KEY but not the new 2006 slot keys, I can find out if no one already knows it. But I'm sure its almost the same way. Maybe someone can chime in on that one. Or even ask your service advisor to reprogram it for you. Ask him before getting a ebay key. If hes a good SA he will do it for you in like 2 mins.
