Congrats on your bimmer Jody! We are leaving Germany next month and will miss it. I've got family over here so we'll be back before too long and that makes leaving a little easier. I shipped my 535i at the end of March to make sure it's ready and waiting at the other end and it's driving me nuts. I think about it everyday! I would have ordered my 5er earlier but wanted the twin turbo and man was it worth the wait! Drive hard -- drive safe.

Lucky you!!

Since you are in Germany you will have no problem finding parts for the car.... You should definitly go all Ac schnitzer or Hamman...

and if you would like please send me some parts for free and i will be really appreciated.. hehe

HAVE FUN!!!

I live in Germany (US Military). I do enjoy the driving here!

Slickrick, you are right, you do have to be very careful. I have had lots of drivers training (including military, BMW and Mercedes schools) but I still am ultra-vigilant at those speeds. You have to honor and respect that speed.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes, I look forward to learning from you folks here!

150 mph (250km)

what gets me in germany..........there you are zipping along at a 'comfortable' very respectiable speed (>200 kmh) and out of nowhere there's an audi/porsche/mercede/bmw HARING down on you lights flashing......where the hey did he come from.....you pull over ..... they then just blast past you and disappear.....its like they were never there to begin with...... and you're still doing over 200.... and you your fast car is no longer quite as fast as you thought....
....all that and the occasional wartberg that pulls out to overtake a truck about 400m before its necessary.....

wits....yes, you certainly need them on the autobahn...

I know what you mean. I think it's amazing when you get passed when you are doing 200+ KmPH like you are standing still. Amazingly, it's a lot of Audi, Mercedes and BMW wagons that are going so darn fast! :-)

Hello All,

I just bought my first BMW! I am familiar with BMWs because I was the commander of the protective service detail for the senior AF General in Europe. We had an armored 745iL, 760iL and two X5s for chase cars. We also had an armored Mercedes S500 and S600 and two Audi Q7s. I learned that I really liked the BMWs compared to the Mercs. I got used to the iDrive. However, I had bought a new Jeep Grand Cherokee in 2005 and bought my wife a new Mini Cooper in 2007. Well, my wife and I decided to part ways and since I was the sole person on the loans for both cars, I traded them in on a 2007 525i. I love the car and driving it in Germany has been incredible. May parents and my sister came out to visit and I got the 525 up to 145 MPH on the A63 Autoban. I look forward to trying to get it to the max 150! I have four things I want to do to the car:

1) Remove the badging (done)
2) Put the red reflectors on the bumper (ordered)
3) Put new OEM wheels on it, at least 18 inch - looking...
4) Tint the windows

Here is a pic, it has the premium pack, nav, PDC, and iPod adapter. I love the color and love the car

Regards,
Jody
WOW!!! That really looks nice!

Welcome to the forum!
