yesterday, as I was leaving work I saw damage to the rear of my car. Someone hit it but did not leave details.

He / she damaged the rear lights, the bumber and the PDC sensor, which may have fallen inside the bumper

Anyway, I was wondering if BMW do a cover for the rear lights, or do I have to replace the whole unit? Also, I know it's a long shot - but anyone here have a rear bumper for an M Sport? The defuser is fine.

BMW want ?1170 to fix the damage(circa $2250)

That is rubbish mate, I'm so sorry for you. Wa#kers!!!

I think the rear lights come as one unit I'm afraid. So maybe a good time to request the LCI LED lights instead.

Quick look on ebay threw http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GENUINE-BMW-5-series-E60-M-sport-rear-bumper-m-tech-m5_W0QQitemZ200197125822QQihZ010QQcategoryZ10374QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem up. Which, to be honest, seems to good to pass up. Buy It Now!!! He'll even fit it!!

Thanks for the moral support Marc.
Needless to say, I am gutted - but what can you do, that's life.

The ebay item sounds good, I emailed him. Called BMW concerning the lights and, as you rightly said, it is a whole unit for ?130?!!

Anyone here knows if the bumper and/or the rear lights are model specific for the 2006 model. Can I fit a 2004 onwards replacement for them?

Thanks

Keep an eye out for a car with your color paint and confront that person.. or take matters into your own hands and cause them frustration by damaging their car!..

haha okay i'm not a real nice guy when it comes to this so don't take my advice! but i do feel your pain!.. Goodluck

The bumper shouldn't be a problem on your car, not sure about the lights though.

130 isn't as bad as I'd have thought for a whole unit actually. Did you ask about the LED replacements?

This stuff upsets me too.

It is usually the same type of person who does this once a year as well to different cars.

There seem to be security cameras everywhere. Are you sure that there were not cameras around where you parked?

I know that this is not a big item, but I would be curious to find out who did this and make sure they never do it again.

Aren't you fully comp on your insurance?
Surely even paying your excess would work out cheaper in the long run, instead of 1170 quid???

I am fully comp ofcourse, and my excess is ?250. But I thought, if I can do this for anything between ?450 - ?500 then it would be better than making a claim that would be on my file for 5 years.

In short, I would be willing to pay an additional ?200 to avoid making a claim. So looking for a bumper & rear light for ?450 - ?500
