I'm confused, why are you comparing performance with a hyundai? Hyundai's are economy cars.
For 65K car it should be near perfect.. If not why are people paying 65K for?

We all need to remember that stuff goes wrong in life and you can't buy your way out of this.
Sure BMW should have less faults than other cars - and in my experience this IS the case.
OK - my 04 e60 does not seem to have the build quality of my earlier BMW's, but I suspect that the 07 models are a fair bit better.

I am happy again. Steeringwheel buttons replaced today. All new door locks and rattle in rear armrest fixed.
They gave me a new MBZ E350 while this was being done. No rattles but it drove like a sofa.

Hormazd... you and I are very similar.. same OCD, and nuts about rattles and problems. my new 2007 550i has a horrible bogging out in reverse, and at stops. i mean horible. no window creaking, yet, and no RFT noise, but now a reasonably serious engine problem.. while I love the car, the drive, the feel, etc, i just can't stand going to the shop every month, anymore.
i am looking at the E350, as wel. yes I know there is no power, but I can't afford the E550. would love it, but can't.
what was your opinion of the E350?

Did it corner like a sofa or ride like one?

Sorry to hear.
Wait a year for the facelifted version (Sept. '07)
You'll get the new V8 (or the nice 3.0 litre twin-turbo)
and a fully improved version of the E60.
Still after that it's 3 years to the new F10!

good question.. figured someone would ask that, including the Benz dealer. LOL.
I got super duper great deals, due to one thing or another, such as a Buyback situation in 2004, and a collateral substitution. by all rights, I shouldn't be driving this beauty of a car.

Get rid of the runflats - they're way too harsh. I did, and most of my rattles went away. (except the f'in rear parcel shelf noise)

For a $65K car from BMW I expect atleast the fit and finish that I enjoyed for many years in my Honda Accord. I am anal about rattles, far more intolerant of them than the average driver.[list]

You live in LA, dude. You will never see 125 MPH. Why are you worrying about it? Sure they have their problems but you are coming across as deeply neurotic when you are bothered by every little thing.

As I posted earlier in the thread. Instead of living with the annoyances, I have had them all fixed. I have been enjoying the car for the last 6 weeks. It drives quietly and smoothly.
If you think its OK to pay $65K for a car that rattles, then I would say you are not very discerning. Why waste your money?
Love the car.
