Its been getting cold where i live, and i am noticing a very loud ticking noise from the engine bay left side, where the valve cover is (left side if you were looking into the engine bay from the front). The ticking sound does change with rpm, i am thinking it is the lifter's. My car most likely has the old cylinder head style as the production date of my car is 23.04.2007. I did not have this issue when it was really warm. i did have this sound for the last couple of weeks, but today it was randomly extremely loud on the second startup of the day. (went to work, and sound was there but not very loud, coming back from work the ticking was easily heard in the cabin)
I am wonder if any one got this issue replaced and for how much?
Is it harmful for the engine to be running like this? (will it harm the car, if i dont get it fixed)

Can you post a video of it?
I assume you have checked to make sure you have enough oil in the car?
Usually a loud TICK TICK TICK noise is either lifters or rod bearings
TAP TAP TAP is more like rod bearings
