Thumbs down

I just joined this forum a few days ago and already you guys have saved me several hundred dollars!!!

My stealership was in the process of "splitting the cost" with me on 4 new tires due to cupping and excessive wear. I thought that was a pretty good deal until I did a search (here on this site) for Dunlop DSST RunFlat tires and lo and behold....a TSB from June of 2005 appears!!

I called my SA and mentioned it and he feigned ignorance. I emailed it to him and I got a call from him an hour later saying my baby was getting new shoes...totally FREE!!!

I already had the car there for scheduled maintenance and a seatbelt repair and was given a loaner Cadillac for the next two days, so they are going to put the tires on during this period too.

A round of applause and big thumbs up to you all......

We really need to start telling BMWNA about this $hit from dealers, its such bull$hit that they can get away with it.

Yeah...the SA has been at my dealership for 10 years and is a Senior SA, yet he swears that he had never seen or heard of that particular TSB. He called me back a second time and told me that I was getting new Conti's. Then he called me back a third time and said BMW does not authorize Conti's and I was getting Goodyear Eagles. OK with me.

I agree with you about informing BMWNA. (if they haven't already been)

I wish they would search TSB more but to be honest, this isn't just limited to BMW. Almost all (brand) dealers have the same issue. And the same holds true for most of the service industry (doctors, vets, etc.). Some are better than others but in the end the more information you have the better. And it helps by being nice to the dealer when you present this information. They'll thank you for it in the end.

Interestig point. How many of you have had bad service appointments and have given your dealership all 1s when BMWNA called about the appointment?? Personally, I have had several, most memorably when they replaced my driver's seat with leather that did not match the rest of the car's interior. What happened?? Nothing. They had a customer service rep call me to discuss the problem and what was done about it?? Absolutely nothing. I have no idea why they waste all of our time with these moronic phonecalls when they serve absolutely no purpose whatsoever. If they want to take up my time to discuss my service visit, let them knock $20 off my next lease payment. If not, I really can't be bothered. Since that happened to me I have refused to answer their survey questions. It intent is to clearly give the impression that they give a s&^t when clearly, they do not.

WHOA! THIS IS NEWS!

Goodyears instead of Dunlops...They have always only replaced same-brand tires, and relied (read: blamed it) on Dunlop to do the deal. This is NEWS. There may be some light at the end of the tunnel for those of us who just keep getting the same Dunlop crap (well, they are now a division of Goodyear, so maybe that explains it).

Cheers, and you are welcome.
