That's the same info from the HUD FAQ that I linked to above...

Iceman,

I've given him all these thanks, but he said this is only for "fine tuning" and "focus", not to move the HUD up (I was hoping between 3cm and 9 cm) ... he says its only good for 10mm (adjustments and focus only) ... Thats why I'm interested in getting someone to take a picture of their newly adjusted HUD so I can convince the SA that it can be done ...

I think it's going to be mighty difficult to photograph what you're looking for because the image can look higher or lower depending on camera placement. I don't see how you'll be able to prove anything with a photo like that...

Agreed, but if you can take a photo with the top of the dash and the top of the hood in view, then we can gage the rest (at least I hope)

Once I get my car back I'll take new pics. The camera was placed on top of the dashboard, above the tach, pic taken with remote. So I should be able to take a pic from the pretty same angle, we'll see...

I took pics today, but the problem is, you can't really see it in the pics. Those two pics below show before and after. If you move the mouse between the HUD and the hood you will see that the gap is now bigger.
When the HUD gets raised, it doesn't just move up a little, it also comes a little closer.

Well, I went into the dealership today and they had a new M5 with HUD in the showroom (yes, in the showroom). I asked to see the HUD position (they gave me the keys and I got to turn it on in the showroom, Wow I loved how the M5 sounds) ... anyway, it was much higher then mine. I took the dealer out to my car and showed him my HUD and he agreed it was too low.

We went into the service department (they have a couple of tech's from Germany working for them) and they said they had never done it but said they'll try.

Wow, it's sooo much better, it must have moved up at least 2 inchs. The tech said it was adjusted at the lowest possible setting and now he moved it to the very highest setting.

BTW, this was all done at another dealership from the one I first visited and said it couldn't be done.

I'm finally happy with my HUD postion after 1 1/2 years!
